Serles

Back to the Gallery

The Serles is a mountain in the Stubaital. The peak is at an elevation of 2718m and easily reachable in a nice, short hike from Maria Waldrast.

I went on the hike together with visiting relatives on two separate occasiaion, during the summers of 2023 and 2025. At the later date, the path from Maria Waldrast was blocked due to an avalanche, requiring us to take a little detour.

The following are some photos I took from the usually quite crowded peak, trying to capture the view, without any of the many visitors in the way.

Photos

Looking out at a north-eastearly direction. A small glimpse of Thaur in the Inntal can be seen in the left of the frame. On the first, comparatively mildly sloing mountain, we can see the "backside" of the Patscherkofel radio tower.

Following along the ridge with a pair of binoculars, you can just barely make out the red roof top of the Glungezer hut, sitting there in a saddle.

The valley directly ahead is the Wipptal, extending towards the Italian border at the south.

Looking in a southerly direction, straight ahead, at the bottom of the frame, we are looking down towards the Serlesjöchl, the track up to the Serles peak can be seen snaking along the mountain and further back along the edge.

The mountain peak, dead ahead, in the center of the image should be the Habicht at an elevation of 3277m.

To the right of the image, we can see Milders, down in the Stuibaital.

Looking north, we are looking directly into the Stubaital, branching off from the Inntal with Innsbruck in the background.

At the right hand side of the image, the Europa Bridge can be seen, bridging the Brenner Autobahn across the Wipptal.

Looking west, across the Stubaital, at the left edge of the frame is Neustift, just bareley in frame, Neder is clearly in view, the view of Kampl and most of Madraz is obstructed, at the right edge of the image, we can see a little bit of Fulpmes.

The Ruetz river can be seen, running through the Stubaital.
